A television producer has pleaded guilty to trying to shake down David Letterman over the comic's sexual affairs. Robert "Joe" Halderman entered his guilty plea to attempted grand larceny Tuesday in a Manhattan court. He is being sentenced to six months in jail and 1,000 hours of community service.
Controlled burns creating lots of smoke in Chester Co.
Many residents in Chester and York counties could smell or see smoke for most of the afternoon on Tuesday. According to the South Carolina Forestry Commission, the smoke was coming from controlled burns along the Chester and Union County line.
Woman accused of shooting boy now held without bond
A woman is being held without bond in Cabarrus County for allegedly shooting a boy with a gun Friday afternoon, and firing shots at the boy's older brother. Cabarrus County sheriff's deputies were called around 6:41 p.m. to 131 Fritzvon Drive in MT. Pleasant regarding a person who had been shot.
Ranlo teen missing for 2 days, found
Law enforcement officers are still looking for a Ranlo teen who has been missing since early Sunday morning. Officials concentrated their search Tuesday morning at the old Gaston County landfill on Monterey Park Drive which has lots of hiking trails. They concluded their search around 1:30 p.m.

Man shot in the leg in east Charlotte
Police are investigating a shooting which happened in east Charlotte Tuesday afternoon. The shooting occurred at 7117 Barrington Drive. When Sky 3 flew over the scene at 3:45 p.m., police and paramedics had located the victim lying in a grassy area along a road.
