South Carolina conference highlights Boeing's rising profile in the South
Boeing (NYSE:BA) will sponsor South Carolina?s second annual aerospace conference next month, double the size of last year's, reflecting the company?s central presence in the state?s growing aerospace industry.

Report: Private-equity firm lining up bid for Charlotte-based Belk
New York private-equity firm Sycamore Partners is finalizing the financing for the potential acquisition of Charlotte-based Belk Inc. in a deal that could total up to $3.5 billion, Reuters is reporting.
It would by Sycamore?s largest deal to date, the report says.
Through a spokeswoman, Belk declined to comment Friday.
Belk confirmed in April that it had hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to evaluate its options for the future.

Will shark attacks hurt coastal Carolina businesses?
Just as the biggest summer holiday for beach destinations is getting underway, the recent rise in shark attacks off the coast of North Carolina may be growing more difficult to ignore.
Another incident occurred Wednesday, marking seven victims bitten in the waters off N.C. beaches in less than a month. And that's not counting at least two more that occurred during the same period in South Carolina.
By comparison, four shark attacks were reported in North Carolina for the entire previous year.
Energy investment firm has raised $18.3M for N.C. solar funds
Double Time Capital, whose website describes its business as creating ?opportunities to participate in and shape the emergence of cleaner, profitable energy,? has finished raising $5.1 million in its N.C. Solar Fund III, according to a regulatory filing.
The filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, dated June 18, was an update of filing in late October that said $3 million had been raised for the fund.
